What is the Cause of OCD?

Is It All In The Mind?

DONT BE ANXIOUS, BUT RATHER BE GOOD

While the other two causes are much more simpler and technical, the amount of psychological cases of OCD is stagering.  Thousands of different forms of mental trauma have been reported to eventually cause OCD, but there are several catogories that have been narrowed down.  One as talked about on the section of the website about children is that it might be cause by stress or it might be learned behavior from parents.  These are the more common cases that begin during childhood.  However, some begin to experiance OCD after major traumatic events during their adult life.  A death of a loved one or something else that might cause depression or stress can make a person obsessive-compulsive.  This is probably the most common attribute to OCD.  Many of the drugs used to treat OCD is also used to treat depression so the correlation is very strong.
Therapy is most commonly used in treating OCD much like depression, but much more specific for OCD.  One such therapy is COGNITIVE-BEHAVIORAL THERAPY as is talked about on the OCD Center of Los Angelos' website:

Over the years many other theories have been come up with why OCD is caused.  One of the more interesting ones is called NLP and Self Organization Theory as you can read by this article writen by Robert Dilts: http://www.nlpu.com/Articles/artic23.htm
The theory is that humans fundamentally want order, but the universe is fundamentally choatic; some people have more trouble with this then others do.
