What is the Cause of OCD?

Is It Genetic?

THE DNA IS ALLL GOOD

A lot of research has been done investigating the possible genetic roots of OCD.  Neurotransmitter.net has a lot of the extensive studies done on OCD.  LONG story short, some strands of genes can cause the brain to send and recieve different kinds of neurotransmitters and/or chemicals.  These imbalances cause the series of compulsions and obsessions that the mind thinks need to be fullfilled.  Studies with many different cases point to the genes possibly being inherited.  A gene stand called 5HT was found in many kids with OCD. Parents were then studied and found to have this gene as well.  This article on Genes and OCD http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2002-09/mp-agc082202.php
says that serotonin is the primary chemical that the gene causes to become imbalanced in the brain.
